Course overview

Packt adapts Steve Miles’s Azure fundamentals book into a sequence of readings, short overview videos and assessments. Cloud concepts and economics lead into architecture, services, management, identity and governance. The reading-led format suits learners who prefer to work through explanations carefully and connect service definitions with the operational decisions an Azure environment requires.

What you will learn

  • Review cloud concepts, economics and architecture.
  • Explore Azure services and management choices.
  • Connect identity, governance and security responsibilities.

Who this suits

Beginner by the provider’s label, with no prior cloud experience required. The provider estimates one week at ten hours per week. Most instruction is through readings, with short overview videos and assessments.

Before you enroll

A completion certificate is separate from Microsoft certification. Exam registration, requirements and fees should be checked on the current official AZ-900 page. Azure demonstrations can incur charges; review the resources and pricing before creating them, practice with fictional data and remove unused resources afterwards. Portal names and interfaces change, so compare older demonstrations with current Microsoft documentation. A foundations course develops service-selection knowledge rather than proving that a learner can operate a production cloud environment independently.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Create a one-page decision table for a fictional Azure workload. Compare availability, access and cost needs, identify suitable service categories and explain one choice that would change if the business requirements changed.
