Play It Safe: Manage Security Risks
Google develops security domains, frameworks, controls and audit concepts as the second course in its cybersecurity certificate sequence.
Explore cybersecurity foundations and web-security practice, with guidance on choosing legal labs, prerequisites, and practical technical learning.
Cybersecurity involves understanding systems, recognizing weaknesses, and improving how risks are handled. Broad introductory programs provide context, while web-security labs develop a narrower technical skill. Networking, operating systems, and careful observation help connect the two.
Use a foundations program for terminology and an overview of security work. Choose structured labs when you are ready to investigate a specific vulnerability. Check the assumed knowledge and use the provider's authorized practice environments so that learning tasks have a clear scope.
For each lab, explain the underlying weakness, the evidence that demonstrates it, and a suitable mitigation. Reproduce the reasoning independently instead of keeping only a working payload. A useful security note should help another person understand and fix the problem.
