Node.js runs JavaScript outside the browser and is often used for servers and tooling. Learning it involves asynchronous operations, modules, process behavior, and communication over HTTP. Browser JavaScript experience helps, but server responsibilities introduce new concerns.
Compare API design, validation, authentication, database work, and testing coverage. Check the Node version and dependencies used in a course. Older deployment providers or libraries may need replacement even when the underlying server concepts remain useful.
Create a small API with validation and meaningful error responses. Test it without the frontend and inspect what is stored. Explain how an asynchronous failure reaches the client.
