Interaction design concerns what happens when a person acts: how an interface responds, what feedback it provides and how the next step becomes understandable. Visual polish helps, but a realistic prototype also needs states, transitions, constraints and recovery from mistakes. Begin with a task and the behavior it requires, then choose a tool that can express the uncertainty you need to test.
Broad UX programs provide research and design context. For practical screen prototypes, compare Figma courses from Skillademia, Daniel Walter Scott and Zero To Mastery with Debbie Levitt's Axure-specific instruction. Xbox offers an introductory Figma and interaction route. UC San Diego's capstone expects prior method study, while London and Michigan extend interaction decisions into virtual and mixed-reality experiences. These paths address different contexts, so match the project and prerequisites to your goal.
A sketch or physical mockup can answer an early question cheaply. Higher-fidelity tools help when behavior, timing or conditional states matter. Figma courses vary in their emphasis on visual design versus interaction; Axure instruction develops a different model of conditions and dynamic panels. Read the actual exercises before choosing a tool solely because it is familiar.
Several options use a named software release or assume earlier design study. Compare current licensing and interface changes with recorded examples, especially for Axure 10 and older Figma lessons. AR/VR projects introduce separate authoring and device questions. A course project is useful evidence of your reasoning when its case study accurately distinguishes observation, inference and unresolved limitations.
Prototype a short task with a clear starting state, an ordinary successful path and one recoverable mistake. Observe someone attempting it without coaching. Record where labels, feedback or transitions create confusion, revise the prototype and explain the change. For a spatial experience, also examine navigation, physical context and comfort on the relevant equipment rather than assuming a desktop pattern transfers directly.
