Course overview

UC San Diego brings interaction-design methods together in an extended capstone. Needfinding and ideation lead into prototypes, heuristic review, development planning and user tests before a final design presentation. The course is useful when you already know the methods and need a structured opportunity to show how observations, alternatives and evaluation shape a finished project.

What you will learn

  • Connect observed needs with several design alternatives.
  • Develop and evaluate an interactive prototype.
  • Document the evidence and revisions behind a design project.

Who this suits

This is the application stage of an interaction-design sequence. Prior research, prototyping and visual-design study will help you tackle the assignments with independence.

Before you enroll

The capstone requires substantial work beyond watching lectures. Check current assignment, feedback and assessment access before enrolling. A polished portfolio case study should distinguish actual observations from assumptions and explain its limitations.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for included assessments, certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Access conditions can change; review the current offer before paying.

Put it into practice

Keep a decision log throughout one original redesign. For each revision, record the evidence, the alternative considered and the next question to test, then use that log to write an honest case study.
