PaidModern Robotics: Mechanics, Planning, and Control
A mathematical robotics sequence covering robot motion, kinematics, dynamics, planning, and control, supported by programming exercises.
Northwestern University — Kevin Lynch
Explore Northwestern’s robot-kinematics course on forward and inverse kinematics, velocity relationships and statics, building on motion foundations.

This second course uses the representation tools from Modern Robotics 1 to connect joint values with end-effector motion. Forward kinematics leads into velocity relationships, statics and inverse kinematics. It is a natural continuation for learners who can already work with the series’ motion notation.
Intermediate learners prepared for mathematical modeling and programming. The series uses Python, MATLAB or Mathematica; later courses build on earlier Modern Robotics material.
The mathematical and programming demands vary sharply across robotics courses. Preview the exercises and software setup before enrolling. Use simulations for independent practice; course completion alone does not prepare someone to operate an industrial robot safely.
Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.
For a simulated arm, calculate an end-effector pose from joint values and compare it with an inverse solution for the same target.
This overview is based on the provider's published information, checked on . It is an editorial assessment, not a claim that we completed the resource. Time filters are approximate study ranges; projects and exercises can take longer.
