Course overview

This second Troy Baird course shifts from foundations toward field decisions. Six modules examine equipment, workflow, minimalism, style and the practical challenges of photographing people and changing scenes. Learners consider how a chosen setup supports their approach, rather than treating more equipment as an automatic improvement.

What you will learn

  • Choose a setup appropriate to a shooting approach
  • Adapt framing and settings to changing conditions
  • Evaluate practical and ethical street situations

Who this suits

The Beginner label comes with an expectation of basic camera or phone-setting knowledge. Learners who have established an intention and practiced observation can use it to develop more consistent field decisions.

Before you enroll

Coursera estimates nine hours including activities. Equipment purchases are optional and should follow an actual need. Do not let a technique distract from respecting people or remaining aware of your surroundings. Review unsuccessful frames as well as selected images to understand what the setup and approach made difficult.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Photograph one permitted location with a deliberately limited setup. Review a contact sheet, identify a recurring framing or exposure problem, and plan one change for the next session.
