Troy Baird introduces street photography through intention, observation and visual choices. Six modules connect the genre’s purpose with practical habits, technical freedom and composition. The course is the foundations stage of a pathway, with activities that encourage learners to develop a personal approach rather than copy a fixed shooting style.
No previous experience is required, and a camera or smartphone is sufficient. This Beginner course fits learners who want a more deliberate way to notice and photograph everyday scenes.
The nine-hour estimate includes activities and assessments. Respect people’s privacy, local restrictions and requests not to be photographed. Evaluate a photograph’s context before sharing it; capturing an interesting moment does not by itself establish permission to publish it commercially.

Make a short series around one visual theme in a permitted public setting. Compare the selected images and explain how framing and timing support the theme without relying on intrusive photography.
