This Berklee course focuses on turning lyrical ideas into music. Scarlet Keys connects emotive chord choices with harmonic rhythm, memorable melodies and the story a song tells. The published modules offer a focused alternative to a general production course: the central work is choosing notes, chords and timing that support the song itself.
The intermediate course expects experience writing original lyrics and some basic music theory. Bring an unfinished lyric or song idea to make the exercises useful.
Composition and recording production are separate areas of study. Check whether you need songwriting feedback, instrument practice or production instruction before choosing your next course.

Set one lyric to two different chord progressions. Sing or play both versions, then explain which harmonic and melodic decisions better support the intended emotion.
