George W. Russell, Jr. guides the final project for Berklee’s Developing Your Musicianship specialization. The work builds a 36-measure composition through a first A section, a second A section, a contrasting B section and a final A section with melody. The emphasis shifts from recognizing concepts to making musical decisions and revising a complete piece.
This intermediate capstone expects completion of the three preceding courses. It is a project course for applying that material, rather than a first introduction to notation.
Check the current assessment and peer-feedback arrangements before enrolling. A finished assignment demonstrates your work on this project; it does not establish a professional composition qualification.

Keep two versions of the same section. Explain how a change in rhythm, melodic contour or harmony improves the transition into the next section.
