Course overview

Pearson’s React applications unit brings a relational database, Spring Boot API and single-page interface together. The client-side emphasis includes fetching data, promises, async and await, routing, state and effects. It is a focused integration course for learners who want to understand the frontend behavior of a Java-backed application rather than repeat basic language syntax.

What you will learn

  • Consume Spring Boot REST endpoints from React
  • Manage asynchronous requests and interface state
  • Connect routing and effects with a data-driven UI

Who this suits

An Intermediate option for learners comfortable with JavaScript and basic React, with enough Spring knowledge to follow the server. It is better approached after foundation work than as a first introduction to full-stack programming.

Before you enroll

The published workload is about four hours, including more than video viewing. Review the specific library versions before reproducing the project, since frontend setup and routing APIs can change. Access to this unit is separate from completing all courses in the specialization. A working demonstration still needs error handling, input validation, accessible controls and suitable authorization before it becomes an application for real users.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Build a two-view interface for a local API. Include loading, missing-record and network-error states, then test whether navigating away and back produces stale data or unnecessary requests. Explain the state and effect decisions behind the behavior.
