Course overview

Rishabh Rajan connects electronic production elements with live performance. Lessons develop drum patterns, harmonic accompaniment, melody and bass before combining them into an arrangement. The demonstrations use Ableton Push, but the course explains that other DAWs and electronic digital instruments can support the work, making controller-based performance the central skill.

What you will learn

  • Build and perform rhythmic patterns
  • Combine harmony, melody and bass parts
  • Arrange and live-loop an electronic performance

Who this suits

The provider lists Beginner but requires some music knowledge, the ability to work in a DAW and access to a DAW and electronic digital instrument. This is an introduction to performance technique, not to computers or basic music software.

Before you enroll

The total workload is roughly six hours, including practice and assessment. Equipment and software are separate from enrollment, and mappings may differ if you use another controller. A short course cannot replace sustained timing and performance practice. Check the recording or sharing terms for any backing material, and make an original arrangement rather than presenting a reproduced demonstration as your own composition.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Create an original four-part loop with drums, harmony, bass and melody. Practice entering and removing parts without losing the pulse, record a short performance, and identify one transition to improve through further rehearsal.
