About Fashion Design

Fashion learning includes illustration, materials, construction, and the business of clothing. An introductory sketching course covers only part of that space. Decide whether your immediate goal is communicating a silhouette or learning how to make a garment.

Choose a useful starting point

Compare the actual exercises with your aim and check required materials. Stylized figure proportions are drawing conventions rather than descriptions of every body. A brief illustration class does not supply full pattern-cutting, fitting, or sewing preparation.

Build on the lessons

Sketch one garment on two poses and annotate the fabric movement. Revise the drawing so another person can understand the silhouette and important construction details.
