About Django
Django combines a Python web framework with conventions for data models, request handling, templates, and administration. Its structure becomes clearer when you understand basic Python and the path of an HTTP request through an application.
Choose a useful starting point
The official first-app tutorial offers a focused introduction. Match the documentation version to your installed package and read the setup steps carefully. Learn what each generated file does before layering in authentication packages or a complex frontend.
Build on the lessons
Extend the tutorial with one small feature, inspect the database change, and test the resulting request. Explain the relationship between a model, URL, view, and response.
