Course overview

The second Foundations course moves from arranging nodes to controlling execution and connecting services. Its syllabus includes HTTP requests, authentication, pagination, webhooks, sub-workflows, and Data Tables. n8n estimates four to six hours and hosts the practice APIs used in the exercises.

What you will learn

  • Control branches and loops within a workflow
  • Configure HTTP requests and API authentication
  • Receive webhook data and retrieve paginated results
  • Separate reusable steps and route execution errors

Who this suits

A sensible next step when you can navigate the canvas and map JSON fields but struggle to connect an unfamiliar API. The course assumes those basic workflow skills. Complete Essentials first if expressions and the distinction between an item and its properties are still confusing.

Before you enroll

This is the technically denser part of the sequence. Expect to read request methods, headers, and API responses rather than only copy visual templates. Access to an n8n instance is required, although the provided practice APIs avoid separate external account requirements.

The educational course is free; hosting costs depend on your n8n setup. Quizzes, practical work, and an exam contribute to the 70% passing threshold. Passing provides a completion certificate and badge, not n8n's separate professional certification.

Put it into practice

Use a practice endpoint to retrieve two pages of fictional records. Predict how many items should reach the final node, then introduce a missing field and a failed request. Explain which failure should stop the workflow and which could be handled locally.
