Lindsey crosbie
Explore equine communication, welfare, enrichment and ethical care with Lindsey Crosbie through a practical introductory course on understanding horses.
Opens on the provider’s site. Check current access and certificate terms there.
Crosbie connects equine advocacy with observing communication and considering the horse’s needs. Safety, horse senses and human-equine interaction lead into welfare, discomfort and different horse contexts. The emphasis is recognizing questions about an animal’s experience rather than treating compliance alone as evidence that an interaction is appropriate.
Useful for a horse guardian, volunteer or interested learner who wants an introductory welfare perspective and is willing to observe carefully before interpreting a horse’s response.
No previous experience is required for the lessons. About two hours and 26 minutes of video are listed, updated August 2024. Online study does not establish safe handling ability or competence to assess pain. Practical work with horses requires appropriate supervision, while health and welfare concerns may need veterinary assessment.

Review a permitted observation or course case without intervening with the animal. Describe posture, setting and interaction, then list alternative explanations and questions for a qualified equine professional.
