Course overview

The third Wiley AutoCAD course introduces three-dimensional work and presentation. Modules move from the 3D workspace to models and derived drawing views, then consider materials, lighting, interoperability and productivity tools. Readings and assignments support the transition from drawing lines in a plane to representing a form and communicating it through several views.

What you will learn

  • Navigate and manipulate AutoCAD 3D models
  • Create drawing views from three-dimensional geometry
  • Explore visualization and software-interoperability tools

Who this suits

The Intermediate course recommends basic drafting and interface knowledge. It suits learners ready to extend existing AutoCAD skills into modeling, rather than someone who still needs an introduction to coordinates, selection and editing.

Before you enroll

The five-hour workload is primarily reading and assessment based. Check that your software edition supports the demonstrated 3D features; course access does not include an AutoCAD license. The book-derived material dates from 2022, so current rendering and interface details may differ. Visualization helps communicate a model but does not establish that it is structurally, mechanically or dimensionally suitable for fabrication or construction.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Model a simple original object and create two orthographic views. Compare the dimensions across views, add a restrained visualization, and document one limitation of the model that a reviewer would need to understand.
