Course overview

Intel’s course supports classroom engagement through activities connected to life beyond school. Three modules connect academic outcomes with real-world issues, examine technology for community benefit and develop authentic assessment. Interactive learning material and peer-reviewed lesson planning make it a design course for educators rather than a long lecture series.

What you will learn

  • Connect real-world issues with academic outcomes
  • Assess technology choices for service-learning activities
  • Design assessment for authentic classroom work

Who this suits

The published Beginner level has no prior experience requirement. Educators will get most value by bringing a lesson they can revise; its classroom-management relevance lies in meaningful participation and organized learning, rather than disciplinary procedures.

Before you enroll

The page suggests roughly one week at ten hours, with much of the work in interactive material, lesson design and peer review. The short introductory videos do not represent the full curriculum. Community activities need appropriate supervision, accessibility and permissions in your setting. Consider whether a technology choice adds educational value before making it a requirement, and provide alternatives when access differs among learners.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Revise a sample lesson around a local community question. Specify the academic outcome, an accessible student activity and the evidence you would assess. Explain why any proposed technology is useful and how students could participate without it.
