Harvard Business Review connects goal setting with the processes needed to follow through. Motivating objectives lead into performance measurement and learning from successes or failures. This course suits managers who need to translate a broader organizational priority into team work and want to examine whether a chosen measure encourages useful behavior or creates an unintended incentive.
Intermediate by the provider’s label and aimed at a team-management context. The provider estimates one week at ten hours weekly, including projects and assessment. Use a realistic team scenario to make the exercises useful.
A useful goal-setting method should make the next action and review process clearer. Account for time, resources, competing responsibilities and circumstances outside your control. Course marketing about guaranteed success or effortless results should not be treated as evidence of an individual outcome. Keep personal reflections private and use fictional examples for shared exercises. Team goals need agreement about priorities and capacity, as well as a measurement method. A completion certificate records training; it does not establish that a goal or business result has been achieved.
Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.
Write a goal for a fictional team and propose a measure of progress. Explain how that measure could be misleading, add a balancing check and describe when the team should review its assumptions.
