Azure administration joins resource configuration with access, monitoring and maintenance. A virtual machine needs a network path and appropriate permissions; a backup needs a tested recovery plan. Operating-system, networking and command-line knowledge make these relationships easier to understand. Choose a course around the work you need to perform, then compare its scope with the current Microsoft AZ-104 guide.
Alan Rodrigues, Anand Rao Nednur, Kevin Brown, John Christopher, Scott Duffy and Nick Colyer offer independent preparation sequences. Their runtimes, simulation arrangements and prerequisites differ. Focused Microsoft and SkillUp courses develop identity, networks, backup and governance. These narrower options can close a practical gap but are not described as complete examination preparation.
Microsoft recommends familiarity with operating systems, servers, virtualization and networking, plus experience with its administration tools. Some independent courses begin more gradually. Preview the relevant lessons and compare older Azure Active Directory references with current Microsoft Entra guidance. A stable URL can retain an older examination identifier while the current teaching page names AZ-104.
A simulation helps rehearse a procedure but does not reproduce every live account condition. Check subscription requirements, practical access and current service charges. Course completion evidence is separate from the Microsoft examination and credential renewal requirements. Compare the actual lesson outline with the current study guide rather than use a course title or update date as proof of complete coverage.
Build a small resource plan before using a practice account. Define the user roles, network boundary, storage needs and recovery objective. Configure a contained example, test an access or connectivity failure and record how you verified the correction. Include cost review and resource removal so the exercise can be repeated without leaving an unexplained environment behind.
