About Statistics and Probability

Statistics helps reason about data and uncertainty. Calculating a number is only part of the work; sampling, variation, assumptions, and interpretation determine what the number can support. Probability provides language for describing uncertainty explicitly.

Choose a useful starting point

Start with algebra and graph-reading confidence. Use introductory lessons to connect an operation with the question it answers. Look for examples that discuss sampling and uncertainty rather than only substituting values into formulas.

Build on the lessons

Describe a small dataset and explain how it was collected. Compare two summaries and identify what each hides. State why an association does not by itself establish a cause.
