About Natural Language Processing

Natural language processing turns text into representations and predictions that software can use. Tokenization, linguistic analysis, classification, and language generation address different problems. A smaller text-processing project can provide a clearer foundation than starting with a complex chatbot.

Choose a useful starting point

Jose Portilla's course covers established Python text-processing tools and modeling techniques. Its older library examples need version checks. Choose a newer LLM curriculum when your goal specifically involves transformers or contemporary generative applications; those topics do not replace every conventional NLP method.

Build on the lessons

Build a classifier over a modest labeled text dataset. Inspect ambiguous examples, preprocessing choices, and differences between training and test material. Compare a simple baseline with the more complex model and explain which errors remain.
