Deep learning uses neural networks to learn patterns from data. Training a network is only one part of the work: data preparation, evaluation, and understanding mistakes determine whether the result is useful. Begin with a small, inspectable problem.
Choose a useful starting point
Choose a broad introduction for several network families or a PyTorch or TensorFlow course for implementation depth. Review Python, algebra, and machine-learning prerequisites. Cloud notebooks can simplify setup, but accelerator availability and paid compute affect what you can reproduce.
Build on the lessons
Train a simple baseline and a small neural network on the same split of a public dataset. Record the configuration and examine errors on held-out examples. Explain whether the extra complexity improves the result rather than relying on training accuracy.
