Creative writing develops through drafting, reading, critique, and revision. A structured course gives you language for examining choices about plot, character, setting, and style. It cannot make those choices on your behalf.
Look for assignments and feedback rather than lectures alone. Keep the first project small enough to finish. Evaluate peer comments against the intention of the piece instead of accepting every suggestion or defending every original sentence.
Rewrite a short scene with a different viewpoint or emphasis. Compare what each version reveals and withholds, then explain the revision you would keep.
