Course overview

Georgia Tech's electronics course introduces the components that allow circuits to do more than pass a current through a resistor. Diodes, transistors, and operational amplifiers are connected to circuit behavior and analysis. The useful habit is reasoning from a component model to what you expect to observe at the circuit's output.

What you will learn

  • Interpret introductory electronic-circuit models
  • Understand diode behavior
  • Analyze transistor-based circuits
  • Work with operational-amplifier concepts

Who this suits

Useful for an engineering learner who already understands basic voltage, current, resistance, and circuit analysis. Algebra and confidence reading diagrams help. Review elementary circuit laws first if the opening examples feel unfamiliar; otherwise new component models become unnecessarily difficult to follow.

Before you enroll

Mathematical circuit analysis and practical bench work are complementary skills. Real components have limits and tolerances that idealized examples simplify. Follow appropriate supervision and equipment guidance for physical experiments, and use the course to develop the reasoning that supports those experiments.

Full Coursera assessment and certificate access follows current enrollment terms. Any hardware, measurement equipment, or simulation tools are separate from tuition.

Put it into practice

Predict how a simple amplifier output changes as its input increases, and identify where the ideal model stops being a useful approximation.
