Course overview

Étudier en France places intermediate French in the context of studying and living in France. Listening, reading, vocabulary, grammar, and written work support practical communication and an understanding of the academic environment. The French-language instruction is part of the challenge: you use the language to learn rather than waiting for every idea to be translated.

What you will learn

  • Understand intermediate spoken and written French
  • Develop vocabulary for student life
  • Practice written and oral expression
  • Recognize cultural aspects of studying in France

Who this suits

Best for a learner with an existing B1 foundation who can follow clear French with some support. It is a substantial jump from a first vocabulary course. Try an introductory lesson before committing and note whether the difficulty comes from unfamiliar words or from the underlying grammar.

Before you enroll

A course completion certificate does not replace an official language examination or an institution's admission requirements. The B1–B2 label describes the course's intended level. Set aside time to revise your own work and practice speaking beyond the recorded material.

Full assessed Coursera access and a completion certificate are subject to current enrollment terms. Check preview and financial-aid availability directly.

Put it into practice

Write an email asking a fictional university office for information, then revise its register, structure, and clarity after reviewing the lesson.
