Adobe introduces the systems an assistant editor uses to support a production. Three modules connect editorial collaboration with protected source media, organized projects, sequence versions and handoff notes. A continuing project gives the workflow a concrete setting beyond learning isolated interface commands.
The Beginner course targets aspiring assistant editors and editors moving from another system. Some familiarity with video files and editing concepts helps when applying the production-oriented terminology and exercises.
The four-hour workload includes activities and assessment. Premiere access is separate. Practice with copied sample footage and maintain an untouched original; project organization is valuable only when media and version choices remain traceable. A completion certificate does not establish readiness for every production’s workflow.
Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.
Build a small practice project with descriptive bins, sequences and notes. Hand a copy to another person and ask them to identify the current edit and its source media.
