Course overview

Packt connects FastAPI’s request interface with validation and persistent data. Path and query parameters lead into CRUD operations, Pydantic models, SQL databases and asynchronous programming. It suits learners who can write Python and want a structured backend foundation before adding complex authentication or deployment work, with attention to what belongs in a request model and what belongs in the database.

What you will learn

  • Handle route parameters and CRUD requests.
  • Validate data with Pydantic models.
  • Explore SQLModel, PostgreSQL and asynchronous operations.

Who this suits

Intermediate by the provider’s label. Familiarity with Python and basic web development is recommended. This foundations component has a separate syllabus from the later intermediate backend course; the combined program is not counted again.

Before you enroll

Work in a local development environment with fictional records and keep API keys outside source control. Match the demonstrated Python, Pydantic and database-library versions with your project before copying code. Hosting, databases and AI services may cost extra. A completed course project still needs tests, access controls and an operational review before real users or sensitive information depend on it.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Build a local inventory API with create and list operations. Separate its input model from stored records, reject an invalid quantity and explain the response a client should receive.
