Course overview

Four modules develop parenting and coordinated motion before introducing tracking and integrated projects. Tim Wilson demonstrates relationships between layers and ways to make graphics follow movement in footage. The curriculum has a distinct integration focus compared with his masking and timing courses.

What you will learn

  • Coordinate layers with parenting and null objects
  • Track movement in live-action footage
  • Integrate graphics into a moving scene

Who this suits

The Intermediate course recommends familiarity with keyframes, layers and text animation. It is suitable for learners who can already build a simple composition and want its elements to interact more convincingly.

Before you enroll

Coursera estimates six hours including exercises. After Effects access and footage are separate. A tracker can drift or fail during occlusion, so inspect the whole sequence rather than assuming the automatic result is accurate. Use footage you own or have permission to edit and share.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Film a short original clip with a clearly visible object. Attach a simple graphic to it, inspect the track frame by frame at difficult moments and document any manual correction.
