Course overview

Microsoft introduces common AI workloads and the principles that should guide their use. The short teaching sequence concentrates on recognizing a problem and describing what an AI system is expected to do. It is a conceptual starting point for learners who need a clear distinction between an AI capability, a business use case and the responsibilities involved in choosing a solution.

What you will learn

  • Identify features of common AI workloads.
  • Explain guiding responsible-AI principles.
  • Connect a use case with an AI capability.

Who this suits

Beginner by the provider’s label, with basic computing and English proficiency required. Programming knowledge is beneficial. The roughly three-hour workload includes assessment; this is an introduction rather than a full AI-901 plan.

Before you enroll

Microsoft retired AI-900 on June 30, 2026. Older AI-900 teaching can support conceptual study, but it should not be treated as current exam preparation. Check the official AI-901 objectives, including Python and Azure resource familiarity, before choosing a certification path. Course certificates are separate from Microsoft certification and exam fees. Azure exercises can incur charges; check service access, pricing and permissions, use fictional data and remove practice resources afterwards. Interfaces and service names can differ from older demonstrations.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Choose a fictional service scenario and describe the proposed AI input, output and intended user. Identify a fairness or reliability question that must be addressed before deciding whether the idea is useful.
