Derrick Mitchell guides a logo project through ideation, sketching, digitization and finishing. Four modules connect Illustrator techniques with visual decisions about type, shapes and color. The project emphasizes developing and presenting a coherent identity rather than downloading a ready-made logo template.
No previous logo-design experience is required. The course expects desktop Illustrator access; an iPad, drawing tablet or additional illustration application is optional, making it possible to begin with a standard computer setup.
Coursera estimates six hours with activities and project review. Software access is separate. A completed exercise does not establish that a logo is legally available or distinctive in its market. Use a fictional brief and original work, then test legibility and versatility before treating a polished mockup as evidence of effectiveness.
Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.
Create a logo for a fictional organization and prepare a small-size and one-color version. Compare them with the initial sketches and explain the tradeoffs behind your final design.
