Course overview

Intuit introduces the bookkeeper’s role before moving through the accounting cycle from collecting transactions to preparing statements. Double entry and ethical responsibilities give the practical sequence a conceptual foundation. It suits learners starting from limited accounting knowledge who want to understand why a record is made as well as which step follows it.

What you will learn

  • Explain the bookkeeper’s role and responsibilities.
  • Record and post transactions using double entry.
  • Explore adjustments and introductory financial statements.

Who this suits

Beginners; Intuit lists no previous bookkeeping or accounting experience as a requirement. Allow time to work through the transaction exercises independently.

Before you enroll

Check which accounting framework, jurisdiction and software edition the examples use. Desktop and online QuickBooks workflows differ, and software access may be a separate cost. Use invented transactions for practice, preserve an audit trail for corrections and verify current tax or payroll requirements separately. A completion certificate is distinct from a professional bookkeeping qualification.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Create an invented week of business transactions and classify each. Record a small set of entries, explain an adjustment and trace how the records contribute to a financial statement.
