B1 English Reading Practice — British Council

This British Council collection gives a B1 learner short, purposeful reading practice. Emails, articles, travel information, advertisements, and reviews offer different reasons to read: finding a detail, following an explanation, or identifying the writer's point. Each lesson combines preparation, a text, and comprehension activities rather than presenting vocabulary in isolation.

Before you enroll

This is a reading collection, so it does not provide the full speaking, listening, and writing practice needed for balanced language development. B1 describes the intended learning level, not a qualification awarded by finishing the exercises. Progress depends on repeated practice across different texts.

The published reading lessons are free. British Council paid classes and examinations are separate services; this collection does not include a completion certificate.
