Course overview

Google's project-management program organizes the subject around the work needed to move a project from an idea to delivery. Charters, stakeholder responsibilities, schedules, risk, and communication appear as connected activities. The curriculum also introduces Agile and Scrum, allowing a beginner to compare different delivery approaches.

What you will learn

  • Define scope and create a project charter
  • Map stakeholders and responsibilities
  • Plan schedules, budgets, and risks
  • Communicate progress and understand Agile delivery

Who this suits

Suitable for someone beginning a project-coordination role or already organizing work without a formal framework. You do not need a technical background. Use a real or realistic small project as a running example so each document has a purpose beyond satisfying an assignment.

Before you enroll

Templates make planning easier, but they do not resolve competing priorities or unavailable people. Practice explaining tradeoffs and updating a plan when assumptions change. The program's completion certificate is separate from professional certifications that have their own experience and examination requirements.

Full program and certificate access generally require paid Coursera enrollment. Check current regional pricing, trials, and any financial-aid options.

Put it into practice

Create a one-page plan for a small event, then revise the scope when one key contributor becomes unavailable a week before delivery.
