PaidAstronomy: Exploring Time and Space
A broad astronomy introduction examining the universe, astronomical observation, and the evidence used to study distant objects.
University of Rochester — Adam Frank
Explore Rochester’s astronomy course on exoplanets, stellar evolution, galaxies and cosmic history through four central research questions.
Opens on the provider’s site. Check current access and certificate terms there.
Rochester structures modern astronomy around four questions: life beyond Earth, the evolution of stars, what lies outside our galaxy and the fate of the universe. This organization helps connect individual facts with a scientific question. It suits beginners who prefer a focused conceptual survey to a chronological history or a software-based astronomy course.
Beginners curious about major astronomy questions and prepared to compare evidence with competing explanations.
Compare an explanation with the observations supporting it and keep established findings separate from hypotheses. Research develops after a course is recorded, so check dates when following links to missions or discoveries. Workload is a provider estimate; calculations and software setup may require additional time.
Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.
Choose one of the four questions and make an evidence map. Include an observation, the explanation it supports and one question the observation cannot settle.
