AI Foundations: Prompt Engineering with ChatGPT

Arizona State develops prompting through a named framework before moving into formulation, refinement and templates. A later section explores imaginative uses. This beginner course offers a systematic approach to describing tasks rather than a list of isolated prompt examples.

What you will learn

• Organize a prompt around a structured framework.
• Refine instructions after inspecting an output.
• Adapt a template to a different task.

Who this suits

Beginning AI learners; the provider states that the course is appropriate for all learners.

Before you enroll

A prompt framework can improve clarity but does not ensure factual accuracy. Check the tool-access instructions and define how an output will be evaluated before revising it.

Coursera offers paid enrollment or subscription access. Check the enrollment screen for assessment and certificate terms, trials and any financial-aid options. Provider access terms can change; review them before paying.

Put it into practice

Create a prompt for a fictional summarization task and a short scoring rubric. Compare two revisions using the same input instead of changing the task and prompt together.
